omg

大叔说啦,喜欢Mao的skating sense{:1_266:}

Shizuka wrote a blog entry about Worlds on March 31, and she talks about when she first met Mao!
http://www.shizuka-arakawa.com/message/index.php?sort=2010&id=109
Here is the translation from the third paragraph:

But the biggest thing that happened recently is this!
In Torino, two Japanese skaters became world champions!!!!!
Dai-chan won both the short and free programs for a perfect victory, and he became the first Japanese man to win, making it a brilliant accomplishment. Mao-chan became the first Japanese person to win a second World title, so it was also a brilliant accomplishment. And for a girl who is still a teenager, who is still developing her hidden potential and will probably go on to break all kinds of records, it was amazing!!
The first time I met Mao-chan was when she was only in second grade. She had come to a training camp in Sendai, and she could already land a beautiful double axel perfectly. It seemed like only a matter of time before she would be able to land all kinds of triple jumps cleanly, so I thought she must have started skating when she was very, very young. When I asked her, "How long have you been skating?" she said, "Since I was 5 years old~!" That meant that she had been only skating about two years, and so I was shocked ((^o^))!!
Contrary to what you might think, there are actually a lot of skaters who master triple jumps at a young age, but her skating was also very stable; she skated very naturally, without any unnecessary effort, and it's very rare for a skater of that age to already possess those important qualities.
Among the skaters I skated with, the other skater that made me think, "This kid is IT!" was Miki. Of course, her jumps stood out, but also the way she applied what she was taught, her powers of observation, and the physical potential she showed even when playing outside were all above the rest.

http://www.tudou.com/programs/view/6InvT93zhTw

MAOMAO~~~
