<P>Tamara Moskvina: I'm glad I will have one more Olympics
Author: Oksana Tonkacheeva
Tamara Moskvina is the most experienced mentor out of all Russian coaches that are going to the Olympics. These are her seventh Games, and her pairs became the champions at four of them. This time, she is taking her new students, Julia Obertas and Sergei Slavnov. We didn't start our conversation with them, but with Elena Berezhnaya - Anton Sikharulidze, or to be exact, with the situation they got into at SLC.
Q: Tamara Nikolaeva, did those Olympics left an unpleasant taste?
A: Why unpleasant? We became famous! We got into all the TV shows. We were interviewed by the most popular journalists in the World. The whole World was talking about us! Long after that, we couldn't travel calmly - we were recognized on the planes, people pointed at us... So, it's how you look at things. <B>My opinion: what's bad about it? We didn't steal anything from anyone.
</B>
Q: The feeling remanis that Lena and Anton's medal was stolen from us. You know the whole country was worrying for them...
A: When I was in the meeting with Rogge, he asked me directly - are you going to come for the second award ceremony? I said yes, we will go because we respect your decision, IOC and ISU, our management. If everybody made this decision, what can we do?
Q: What would your personal decision, without the management, would be?
A:<b> I still always think that bad peace is better than any war, in any variation. You don't kill your enemies, right? You don't turn your back to them even thought you want to do it sometimes, you do otherwise - you smile.</b> I know, you, the reporters, wrote that it was unfair. It's not your fault our press wasn't heard. Of course, if our people could voice their concerns on time and say, look how the short program was judges, maybe everything would've been different. What can we say now?
Q: Do you think the repeat of the similar scandal in Turin is possible?
A: Our judging is still subjective. Some like the minister, some - the minister's wife, and some - the minister's daughter. So, the will always be the leanings from the common opinion. And if there is not a common opinion... <B>On the other hand, the new judging system is a law that has to be obeyed, not discussed. So, with Obertas/Slavnov, we set our Olympics programs to match the new rules and clarifications from ISU.</B> By the way, these clarifications were of benefit to the skaters beucase they don't allow to interpert the rules freely. If it's written down that you have to balance on each foot in every position, it's easier to understand than just balance. Then everyone would invent something.
Q: The progres in Obertas/Slavnov's skating is noticeable even for non-professionals, but it's a bit early for them to contend for Olympic medals. Maybey when you and your students go for the victory only, as it happened before, your mood and emotions as a coach is entirely different. Am I right?
A: Everything is the same, only the goals are different. Julia and Sergei are not the leaders yet, they are only pair #3 on Russian team, but I'm preparing them so they would be able to grab a chance to win a medal if they suddently get this chance.
Q: Are they anxious? It's their first Olympics.
A: My assistant Oksana Kazakova is a big specialist in the psychology field. She can joke sometimes, and she could yell a little, but she is great with transferring her experience when it comes to psychological pressur and patriotic responsibility. The team became more experienced and mentally stronger. Still, no matter how much you prepare, everyone will worry. You will too.
Q: Personally, are you bothered by anything, scared or are you glad?
A: Nothing scares me anymore. As for being glad... I will have one more Olympics. I have big responsibility, I'm still in the <P><b>Moskvina说得真好,喜欢她对比赛的积极态度和对不公正的平和心态,我想这也是她在双人滑领域屹立20多年始终不倒的原因之一。
</P> <DIV class=quote><B>以下是引用<I>blue</I>在2005-12-11 18:39:32的发言:</B>
