Standing ovation!

正如很多解说形容的那样,he is so connected to the audience, and he always gives it 200%!

Evan, you're my hero, and you always will be!

人常说,it's not over till it's over。

Weir Wins Short ProgramBy NANCY ARMOUR

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Johnny Weir won this round. And some praise from rival Evan Lysacek.

Weir edged Lysacek in their growing on-ice rivalry Friday night, winning the short program at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships. This one's not close to being settled, though, with a measly 1.35 points separating them going into Sunday afternoon's free skate.

"I hope Evan can skate well," Weir said just before Lysacek took the ice. "I hope he can get over the nerves of coming back and trying to repeat as national champion. I've had to deal with it before and it's a hard thing to do. So I hope he makes it interesting and throws all his cards on the table and skates well."

Weir scored 83.40 points, and Lysacek had 82.05. Stephen Carriere, last year's world junior champ, was third with 76.66.
Weir and Lysacek's ongoing tug of war is the best thing going in skating these days. Figure skating may be pretty, but it's when things get down and dirty that fans really pay attention. The Battle of the Brians, dueling Carmens, Michelle vs. Tara/Sarah/Sasha — whenever things get heated on the ice, it's going to get good.

Weir and Lysacek's rivalry started in the United States, with Weir winning the national title from 2004-06 before Lysacek claimed it last year. But it's gone global, with Lysacek claiming two bronze medals at the world championships. He took the bronze at this year's Grand Prix final while Weir finished fourth.

And while neither likes to admit it, knowing the other is out there has made them both better skaters.

"I have so much praise for Johnny. I don't know how he did it (be defending champion) three times," Lysacek said. "I'm learning it's extremely tough."

Especially when there's someone just as good trying to take the title away.

Weir didn't have his usual pizazz, looking very deliberate and determined as he checked off one required element after another. His triple lutz-triple toe loop combination was done with ease and control, and he was one of the few competitors who not only landed a triple axel, but did a nice one.

His footwork was light and a perfect match for the music, and he had a nice touch at the end, tapping an imaginary key as the last piano note sounded.

"I was happy with the performance I put out today, and I was pleased I could turn in a clean performance and get the monkey off back of, `Oh my God, I'm back at nationals again and last year wasn't very good,'" said Weir, who finished a distant third to
Lysacek at nationals after falling on one jump and popping another in his free skate.

Lysacek was pretty happy himself. He'd thought being the defending champion would boost his confidence, that he'd feel more relaxed knowing he's done this before.

He was wrong.

He spent the day Friday battling his nerves, and was still shaking as he waited to take the ice. It didn't help that he botched his quadruple toe several times during the warmup, crashing so hard one time it drew a sharp "Oooh" from fans.

"I was just so frazzled," Lysacek said. "I don't know what it is. I didn't think I'd be like that. (But) it's probably the most prestigious title, except for Olympic gold, for us."

Once his program began, he landed the quad on his feet. Unfortunately, it was on both of them, and that's a deduction. He only tacked on a double toe to complete the combination, and that's not worth as much as the triple toe he normally does. He also had a funky landing on his triple axel, brushing the boards with his skate.

But he made up for those minor errors with some intricate footwork and expressiveness that some actors would envy. Skating to "Zorro," he dueled his way across the ice with intense steps, kicks and turns.

His spins were simply dazzling. He was so fast he was practically a blur, and he showed great flexibility and control as he changed edges and positions. That's not easy for any skater, let alone someone who's all limbs at 6-foot-1.

When Lysacek finished, he looked relieved more than anything.

"I'm very happy with that," he said. "The short program for me is always so stressful, so I'll take it."

然后Evan给了Frank一个大大的拥抱,撒娇地说,“He saved me!”

Go Evan, fight till the end! You can do it! You will make it!

http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i305/fs2046/capt82d0a485af57485b889a7881c21584e.jpg

http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i305/fs2046/capt4b436e4e58ec4e9ca779c57d01c6655.jpg

Lysacek, Weir end in tie, but Evan gets the gold

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — This is as close as a rivalry can get.
Evan Lysacek won his second straight title at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships on Sunday, despite finishing with the same score as Johnny Weir. The two — who have combined to win the last five U.S. crowns — both finished with 244.77 points. But Lysacek won the free skate, 162.72 to 161.37, and that's the tiebreaker.
"If you were scripting this whole deal, you probably couldn't have done any better job than this," Lysacek said.
Fans weren't quite sure what to make of the results, though. The scoreboard showed the two as even, so when Weir was announced as the runner-up, they booed. Stephen Carriere, last year's world junior champion, was third with 228.06 points.
But Weir has no reason to hang his head over this result. It's certainly a much better showing than last year, when an awful free skate dropped him to third and prompted him to uproot his entire life. He moved to New Jersey, and now trains with Galina Zmievskaya, who coached Olympic gold medalists Viktor Petrenko and Oksana Baiul.
"It's really fantastic vindication to know I came back and didn't totally fall apart," Weir said.
And just wait until next year. Odds are, these two will be at it again.
Lysacek and Weir have a back-and-forth that's one of the best things going in skating. Weir won the U.S. title from 2004-06, while Lysacek was winning a pair of bronze medals at the world championships.
But Lysacek has had the edge at home recently, now winning the last two U.S. titles.
Lysacek had said that he wasn't going to worry about the results this year, that coming in as the defending champion would give him a confidence boost, not a case of the nerves. It didn't quite work out that way.
Skating to "Tosca," he didn't have his usual sharpness or precision, and until his last two sections of footwork, his free skate lacked his usual emotion. The only thing that wasn't subdued was his slicked-back hair and white satin shirt.
He landed his quadruple toe loop jump on two feet, and needed to do a turn before the triple toe that's supposed to be a combination. He wasn't very secure on the landings of either of his triple axels, too, though he held on to both of them.
He did end the program nicely, though. Four of his elements — two jump combinations and a triple lutz and double axel — came after the halfway mark, which earn bonus points.
His straight-line footwork is filled with intricate steps and kicks and fast hops and turns, and it always gets a nice reaction from the crowd. Sunday was no different. Fans were cheering and clapping before his music even finished, and Lysacek pumped his fist in satisfaction.
But he'd left room for Weir. The two were separated by only 1.35 points after the short program, so whoever won Sunday's free skate would be the champion.
The two were evenly matched in jumps — both two-footed their quads and did seven triples. But Weir also appeared to land his triple flip on two feet, and he had simpler entrances to his jumps. It may not sound like much, but it was enough to be the difference between silver and gold.
Weir also didn't skate with his usual intensity. When he's on, he is one of the most majestic skaters in the world, with a natural gift for wringing every ounce of emotion out of a program.
But he seemed to be more about business in both his short and long programs, skating as if he was crossing one thing after another off a mental checklist. He still had his usual elegance, but not his fire.
His shoulders shook with sobs when he finished, and he briefly dropped to one knee. A few minutes later, he'd dropped to second.

Belbin-Agosto make it five in row

Tanith Belbin clutched a fluorescent green Frisbee a fan airmailed to her and dance partner Ben Agosto from the seats of the Xcel Energy Center.
"Simply amazing," were the words scribbled on the disc. That could be today's headline after the performance they gave Saturday to nail down their fifth straight gold medal at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships. The Chelsea, Mich.-based team breezed to the title by an almost 10-point margin over runners-up and rink partners Meryl Davis and Charlie White. Belbin and Agosto tied the record of five consecutive U.S. championships set by predecessors Naomi Long and Peter Tchernyshev (1999-2003). "I said to him at the end I think it was the best we've done for years, so it feels very good," Belbin said. After skating to "Cotton-eyed Joe" during their Appalachian Hoedown original skate, the tandem traded their perkiness and overalls for all-black costumes and a classical number choreographed to a piano concerto of Chopin. They closed the competition with their best free dance of the season to finish with 216.07 points. "It's such a nice feeling to use the emotion that is so prevalent in this music," Agosto said. "It's really nice change for us. We really enjoy performing it." The 2006 Olympic silver medalists, who were pictured on programs and the giant banner hanging outside the arena, are a dynasty within U.S. Figure Skating. The duo has been skating together for 10 years and has medaled in all eight of
their U.S. championships. "Every year has brought something new and exciting," Agosto said. "I'm so lucky that I found Tanith and we got together. It's been a really amazing run." Davis and White, last year's bronze medalists, moved up one spot by finishing with 206.82 points. They struck a lonelier note in skating to the darker, orchestral "Eleanor Rigby" by the Beatles and emerged feeling bright about their future in the sport. "Achieving the things that we want, I'd say it was a big step," White said. "The relationship between us and the characters we're trying to portray and the energy we put out on the ice, it's been a big step from last year." Kimberly Navarro and Brent Bommentre won the bronze medal with 187.94 points.
