Press conference to be held at IceWorks
Skating complex to host media in Aston, Pa.
(07/03/2008) - The IceWorks Skating Complex is pleased to announce several new additions to our figure skating program. A press conference will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, at the IceWorks Skating Complex in Aston, Pa.
In April, the current Olympic ice dance silver medalists, American's Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto relocated to the IceWorks Skating Complex to train under world renowned coaches, Natalya Linichuk and Gennadiy Karponosov.
In late June, the 2008 European ice dance champions, Russia's Oksana Domnina and Maxim Shabalin also announced they would be joining Linichuk and Karponosov's group in Aston. Belbin & Agosoto and Domnina & Shabalin are two of the top teams in the world and are expected to battle for the Olympic gold medal in ice dancing at the 2010 Olympics, taking place in Vancouver, Canada.
The growing figure skating program at the IceWorks Skating Complex also added a new coach to the already distinguished list of coaches training skaters in Aston. Vincent Restencourt, who is a three-time French national championships medalist, three time world junior championships medalist and world competitor arrived from Paris to his new coaching position in Aston, in late June. Restencourt was the first French man to land a quadruple jump.
In honor of these exciting arrivals, the IceWorks Skating Complex will be hosting a press conference, at which time the skaters as well as their coaches and other members of the IceWorks Skating Complex staff, will be available for questions and individual interviews.
Following the press conference members of the press and community will be able to meet these skaters as well as our other elite level skaters and coaches during a reception. The press conference will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at the IceWorks Skating Complex.

Hi everyone,
It's been too long since we wrote our last diary entry ;-)
I usually start every diary entry by saying that but I didn't want to disappoint anyone by doing otherwise lol.
I should start by saying that Sinead and I have selected our music for the both the Original and the Free dance and we have, in fact, been working on them since mid-April. We are very excited about both of our selections and we hope that we can create something memorable for everyone to enjoy.
We WILL announce those selections very, very, soon. ;-)
Most recently Sinead and I have enjoyed being back in Scotland to spend sometime with our family and also to spend some time away from skating. It was great to have some days out with our younger brother David who we both really miss since moving to train in New Jersey. Obviously it was great to see the folks as well and they still have a lot of involvement in our skating careers. Mum is still decorating those costumes- despite the fact that we are now over 3,000 miles away from home.
To help with our preparation for our Grand Prix events we plan on taking part at the IJS event in Lee Valley, London. As we have had some problems with our early season form, we felt that this would assist us in being really well prepared for our first Grand Prix event in October. We are definitely trying to leave nothing to chance this year. We may even do a smaller International event in September to aid our preparation, but we are, as yet, undecided on this one.
Grand Prix Events
Sinead and I are both pretty happy about our Grand Prix assignments- Skate America and Trophee Eric Bompard. It is definitely our aim to finish in the top 3 at both these events and we both believe that we are well capable of achieving that aim. Our results at Grand Prix events have frequently been disappointing and that is something that we really want to change.
That's all for now folks but we will write again to tell you of our music selections and we'll try and get some piccies of our time off.
All the best, Sinead and John

All the best, for Sinead and John……

谢谢精彩翻译,原来"we have had some problems with our early season form"是“状态慢热”的意思

Top American and Russian teams share coaches and ice time while vying for gold
The rolling hills and wooded landscapes of Aston, Pa., a low-key suburb of Philadelphia, are pulsing with a bit more rhythm these days after a sudden influx of the world's best ice dancers.
When the husband-and-wife coaching team of Natalia Linichuk and Gennadi Karponossov arrived at the four-surface IceWorks Skating Complex last year, they brought an estimable stable of students, but no bona fide superstars.
That changed this spring, when a disappointing fourth-place finish at the 2008 ISU World Figure Skating Championships prompted reigning Olympic silver medalists Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto to leave long-time coach Igor Shpilband to train under the couple, who won the 1980 Olympic title.
"What we have been looking fo r is a fresh breath, if you will," the 26-year-old Agosto said. "After skating together 10 years this month, we had reached a certain point where we were no longer feeling anything new, no longer enthusiastic and excited about what we were doing."
So far, he added, the move is paying off.
"Coming here to wo rk with Natalia and Gennadi has been an incredible experience so far . . . it's like learning to skate all over again," Agosto enthused. "Every day a new amazing thing is revealed to me."
Perhaps most amazing, just eight weeks after the Americans announced their move, European champions Oksana Domina and Maxim Shabalin of Russia -- who had defeated Belbin and Agosto at the 2007/2008 Grand Prix Final -- also made the trek to Aston. They, too, are seeking a new start: Shabalin's knee injuries fo rced the couple's withdrawal from the '08 wo rlds.
"It was a very hard decision," the 26-year-old Shabalin, whose English is more advanced than the 23-year-old Domnina's, said. "Our whole wo rld has changed. But the time had come that we do something new in our skating, and we think Natalia and Gennadi are the best coaches in the wo rld."
Domnina and Shabalin, who have twice won the Russian title, joined a group that includes not only Belbin and Agosto but former wo rld junior champion Morgan Matthews and partner Leif Gislason, who hope to make their competitive debut this fall. Teams from Switzerland, Latvia, Ukraine and Japan are also training at IceWorks this summer, and U.S. bronze medalists Kimberly Navarro and Brent Bommentre practice there several days a week.
Uschi Keszler, the former coach of two-time Olympic silver medalist Elvis Stojko and executive vice president and part owner of IceWorks, said the Russians' arrival benefits all of the athletes.
"As soon as came, the energy was different," she explained. "It was amazing and immediate. All of the skaters have mo re energy in every step. It's friendly. Some places have venom, but not here. Everyone helps each other."
