(01/19/2012) - Johnny Weir, the three-time U.S. champion, two-time Olympian and 2008 world bronze medalist, announced today he will be returning to competition beginning in the 2012-13 season.Weir last took the ice in a competitive setting at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, British Columbia, where he placed sixth. For Weir to take part in the 2013 U.S. Figure Skating Championships, he would have to either compete in the regional and sectional championships or receive a bye as a result of skating in an international event, or some combination of the two. His inclusion in the Grand Prix Series can only be as a host country selection.
Weir most recently made news when he married Victor Voronov on New Year's Eve. (Read the full story here.) He trains in New Jersey and is coached primarily by Galina Zmievskaia.
