Torino World Championship
Questions about Yuna's performances at the Worlds. Yuna says she herself could not believe how she could screw-up her spins and spirals, which she doesn't make errors even in practice, and says that she was completely mentally out of it. After her short program, she felt like screaming "I told you I didn't want to come!" and seriously thought about withdrawing and quitting, and actually played out the scenario of her apologizing to the fans in her head. The host then asks, "then why did you go to WC" and Yuna answers that it was something that was planned for a long time and something that she felt she just have to do. They then joke about how her 7th place finish at SP may have been "lucky number 7", allowing her to eventually win silver, and Yuna jokes that she should have won a red outfit, because traditionally, WCs are won by skaters wearing red or bright colors.
Dating / Boyfriend
They ask her to confirm her rumored relationship with certain male celebrities - they don't name the persons out of concern for "privacy", but it is clear to the audience who they are talking about (certain lead singer of an idol group and a "handsome actor"). Yuna says she is of course familiar with the rumors, but she denies that she has even met them. The rumor with the actor started because Yuna sang two theme songs of dramas in which the actor starred, and Yuna even politely apologizes to the actor/singer (My personal take: Which male celebrity wouldn't want to be linked with Yuna?!! It is them who owe apology to our queen!!)
The guru then starts asking the million dollar questions. First, among the rumored persons, has Yuna ever thought about any of them as a potential boyfriend material, even 1%? Yuna says NO, with a serious look. Then the guru asks, "do you have a boyfriend? do you want to have a boyfriend?" Yuna doesn't have a boyfriend. She says she would like to have a boyfriend, but realistically, it is a bit difficult, as she spends most of her time training in Toronto.
The guru then asks what is her ideal man. Yuna says she doesn't really have an "ideal" man - but confesses that she really doesn't like men who act "tough." (She then jokes that that does not mean she likes men who act "girly").
Yuna's Rosary Ring
The most fascinating conversation of the night occurs when they then ask what her ring is - whether it a a gift from a lover or holds any special meaning. Yuna says it is a rosary ring. It used to be made out of gold, but one day prior to the Olympics, she lost the ring. She was madly searching for it, as she felt she could not do anything without it. Brian learned that Yuna was missing her ring, and asked "what kind ring is it? Gold or silver?" After being told that it was a gold ring, Brian freaked out, screaming "NEVER WEAR A GOLD RING PRIOR TO THE OLYMPICS", explaining how wearing anything in gold prior to the Olympics will jinx you. Brian then got her a SILVER rosary ring, which she wore and won the Olympics Gold. (This gave me goosebumps when I heard it)
"Money Yuna"
Yuna appears to do lot of internet surfing, is aware of many things written about her. She jokingly recalls how she has been dubbed as "Money Yuna" by some for shooting so many commercials and making so much money. While some people criticize her for shooting too many CMs and use it to blame Yuna if she doesn't perform well in skating, Yuna thinks such criticism is slightly unfair, and jokes that shooting a CM takes less than 1 hour, but because it is replayed over and over again, it just seems like she is always shooting somewhere.
Plan for Future
They directly ask whether Yuna plans to retire (Remember, this was shot in early April). Yuna says she honestly doesn't know and has not made up her mind, but when pressed, admits that for now, she wants to rest more than anything else. However, she notes that after some rest, she may feel that she misses skating and competition. It than shows clips of Yuna's May 31 press conference, announcing that she will not retire, and a voice interjecting that "since then, Yuna has made her up mind.' They ask whether Yuna has achieved her goal of becoming a "happy skater" regardless of results. Yuna says she thinks so. As for her life goal, Yuna's answer is very interesting - it is to remain humble while protecting that which she fought so hard to achieve.
Cure for Yuna's problem
Finally, they announce the cure for Yuna's original dilemma that made her visit the guru - "I want to eat too many things"
The cure is - the Korean government will fund a research project to invent a delicious food which will not result in any weight gain. They will patent it, and even win Nobel Prize in Chemistry for it, and most importantly, make the Queen happy. |
