NNSBRUCK, Jan 14 - Xiaoyu YU (CHN) and Yang JIN (CHN) were beaming with satisfaction after their Pairs Short Programme at the Innsbruck 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games on Saturday.

With a score of 51.79 points, they came first in the event, with Russian duo Lina FEDOROVA and Maxim MIROSHKIN in second place on 49.32 points.

A smiling JIN said he and his partner had "skated extremely well today, did everything perfect".

"These fundamentals are not difficult for us," JIN said. "We will perform a similar level of complexity also in the Free Programme. We are still training on more complicated jumps."

"These Games will be kind of an exam for us," he added. "We have never been at such a big international event before. We are really moved."

FEDOROVA and MIROSHKIN insisted fortune did not favour them on the day.

"In several cases we were not lucky," FEDOROVA said. "We did some mistakes, but overall we are satisfied."

"There were some small things, but I think they were not that noticeable," MIROSHKIN added. "The programme is not a random case, it is a matter of preparation. It is like a performance in a theatre that has been practised a number of times."

The Russians refused to say too much about their Chinese rivals. "My coach told me you can not judge people by being stronger or weaker," MIROSHKIN said. "You need to respect your rivals and strive to perform better.”

Russia also took the third position with Anastasia DOLIDZE (RUS) and Vadim IVANOV (RUS), who were awarded 38.75 points, only slightly more than the USA’s Caitlin BELT and Michael JOHNSON, who got 38.65.

"I am not too happy with the standing, but we look into the future," DOLIDZE said.

In last place came Ielizaveta USMANTSEVA (UKR) and Vladislav LYSOY (UKR). Their performance in French style costumes only earned 34.81 points.

"I am not satisfied with our performance, I am upset, but it is still good to be here," USMANTSEVA said.

The Pairs Free Programme is scheduled for Monday at 14:00.

男单比赛结束，闫涵以59.65分排在短节目首位

闫涵的跳跃出现了较大失误，导致TES损失惨重。不过凭借良好的滑行功底，他还是hold住了比赛。

虽然本次比赛水准整体不高，可代表菲律宾出战的MARTINEZ Michael Christian排在第三位对于他个人而言是非常值得鼓舞的，也许这会激励花滑运动在更多非主流地区的开展。从他的赛后访谈中可以看到他对这样运动的热爱。

NNSBRUCK, Jan 14 - Chinese Figure Skating prodigy Han YAN (CHN) was disappointed despite finishing first in the Men’s Short Programme at the Innsbruck 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games on Saturday.

The 15 year old collected 59.65 points, but he was not satisfied. “I did not do my best. I performed to 50 percent of my level," he said. "I failed two jumps. I simply could not jump well."

Nevertheless, YAN managed to earn almost 5 points more than second-placed Feodosi EFREMENKOV (RUS), who totalled 54.70.

Michael Christian MARTINEZ (PHI), the first Figure Skater to ever represent the Philippines at any Olympic Games, was over the moon with his third position. He scored 54.35.

"I did two mistakes, but overall it went well," he said. "When I entered the rink I was really nervous that I might not land my new jump."

"It is a triple Lutz. I had never performed it in a competition before. I told myself 'do it for your mum, for your family, do it for God'."
