PARIS (Reuters) - Frenchman Brian Joubert landed two quadruple jumps to capture the men's title at the Trophee Bompard grand prix on Saturday.
Hot favorite Joubert, who had taken the lead after Friday's short program, scored a total of 231.08 points.
Skating to a selection of Metallica songs and the Romeo and Juliet soundtrack, he beat compatriot Alban Preaubert, who was second on 211.73 points.
Russia's Sergei Dobrin was third with 193.5 points.
"I am proud to win this competition. It will give me confidence for the rest of the season," said Joubert, whose main rivals, world champion Stephane Lambiel of Switzerland and Canadian Jeffrey Buttle, were both absent.
Bulgarians Albena Denkova and Maxim Staviski deprived France of a double when they won the dance competition by less than three points ahead of local favorites Isabelle Delobel and Olivier Schoenfelder.
