IN the invitation sent out to the media, Stéphane Lambiel announces an important change in his career. He will speak further at a special press conference Thursday morning in Bern.
World Champion in 2005 and 2006 et Olympic Silver Medalist in 2006, the 23 year-old Valais native might be going to announce his retirement. The rumours are about but Stéphane Lambiel will not comment further until Thursday .
An injury to his adductor muscles had put the brakes on his preparation for the season and, as he explains on his web page, Lambiel didn't feel himself ready for his upcoming competitions. Doctors have advised him to take a real pause of a number of weeks. The season begins with the Grand Prix du Canada (31 October) and of Paris (13 November). But Stéphane Lambiel's participation however remains uncertain.
