Documentary to air in the US honoring Korean Athletes
An hour-long documentary showcasing top Korean athletes will broadcast on major US networks in August and September.
The documentary title, "South Korea: Focused on Excellence" features the country’s top athletes including marathoner Sohn Kee-Chung who won the 1936 Berlin Olympics. The historical footage shows him bowing his head in shame when he received the award as a Japanese since Korea was under their rule at the time.
Other athletes include Yu-Na Kim, the 2010 Winter Olympic Figure Skating Champion, footballer Park Ji-Sung of Manchester United, baseball players Park Chan-Ho & Kim Hyun-Soo, and pro golfers Pak Se-Ri, Yang Yong-Eun and Shin Ju-Ya.
The documentary also includes interviews from aspiring Korean athletes as they train in their home country and talk about their dreams.
The man behind the documentary is Andrew Cho, a Korean-American, who runs a sports marketing agency in New York City. The Seoul metropolitan government provided funding and filming assistance to the American production.
The film airs in 120 cities across the US between August and September on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox. In LA, where there is a large Korean-American contingent, the documentary will air at 12:30pm on August 15, and in San Francisco, the same date but at 3pm. New Yorkers will have to wait for a later date some time in August.

杭州网讯 炎炎夏日做什么事最享受，滑冰毋庸置疑成为首选！不少杭州市民想必都听说了本周在万象城举办的2010亚洲冰上邀请赛，那里集结了来自美国 、加拿大、韩国、日本、中国台湾、菲律宾、香港、澳门、印度尼西亚等国的各路高手，分享这夏日里的冰爽大餐。
“小萝莉”统治比赛
当记者赶到比赛现场时，发现前来参赛的选手大多年龄在10岁左右，大一点的也不过15岁，他们都是在父母和教练陪同下参加这次比赛。一位中国代表团的领队告诉杭州网记者：“这次我们队一共来了7名选手，分别参加团体赛和个人花滑赛，别看他们平均年龄在10岁左右，但大赛经验非常丰富，相信这次比赛一定也能让他们成长不少”。
金妍儿成为选手心中偶像
这次冰上邀请赛与其说是选手们之间的一场较量，更像是一场大派对。来自各个国家的500多名选手赛场上虽然拼得厉害，在场下可相互聊得起劲。在议论到自己心中的偶像时，她们都异口同声地告诉杭州网记者一个熟悉的名字“金妍儿”。一位来自泰国的选手在赢得步法赛的奖牌后乐开了怀：“真不敢相信能取得奖牌，我知道自己做得还不够好，希望将来我能像韩国的金妍儿那样赢得世界的最高荣誉。”

VLAD: What do you think about the future of music in skating?
HUGO: I think that we will always be surprised by the infinite possibilities to create new concepts and new designs. It only depends on the athletes willingness to perform to unexpected concepts, such as Yu-Na’s Bond Girl program. Figure skating is getting more and more interesting every year. This has certainly become more evident since the IJS that challenges the skaters to a much deeper understanding of their music, and this can only result in more outstanding performances. Many styles of music can be transformed into masterpieces. I love working with all music genres, but it is particularly pleasurable for me to re-visit some of the well known classical ballets or operas and present them in a new and unexpected angle.
VLAD: In your opinion what is the difference between “good” music and “bad”?
HUGO: Good or bad for skating depends on the choreographic potential of a musical piece and how it could be blended. A track that sounds interesting but seems to go nowhere could become very surprising if it has enough potential. My most recent example is a world level short program I have created last week. Two of the three tracks were good but not exceptional by themselves. But with manipulation, sampling and overlapping it suddenly exploded!
VLAD: Tell us a few, please about your works for the next season?
