Ashley Wagner is a self-proclaimed “Army Brat” who has lived all over the country, including in Western Washington. As a kid she spent her summers on Hood Canal, walking the beaches and trails in Seabeck.
This summer though she is far too busy to come back to what she calls her “heart home.” Wagner, who just turned 22, is America’s top hope for a medal in women’s figure skating at the 2014 Sochi Olympics in Russia.
As a two-time National Champion who finished fourth at the World championships, she is a definite contender for a spot on the podium. She’s not on the Olympic Team yet, though. That will have to come at the trials next January.
