Chan, Virtue & Moir headline 2013 Skate Canada International
OTTAWA, ON: The International Skating Union (ISU) has announced the line-ups for the six ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating events. Canada will host the second stop on the circuit, the 2013 Skate Canada International in Saint John, New Brunswick from October 25-27 at the Harbour Station.
Many of the skaters in the strong competitive field will unveil the programs and music that will be skated at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. All four 2013 Canadian champions, including three-time world champion Patrick Chan, the 2010 Olympic Ice Dance Champion and two-time world champions Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, pair champions Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford and defending Skate Canada International champion Kaetlyn Osmond will compete.
“We are very pleased with the calibre of entries that will be coming to this year’s event.The Grand Prix competitions are key in the athletes’ preparation for the upcoming Olympic Winter Games, and fans in Saint John will have the opportunity to see both our Canadian as well as international world medalists compete for the titles,” said Mike Slipchuk, Skate Canada Director High Performance.

2013 Skate Canada International all-event ticket packages on sale June 14
All-event ticket packages will go on sale Friday, June 14, 2013 at 10:00 ADT. Packages cost $100-$170, plus applicable surcharges. Tickets can be purchased online atwww.harbourstation.ca, by phone at 506.657.1234 or toll free in NB, NS, PE and ME at 1.800.267.2800, or in person at the Harbour Station Box Office.
Skate Canada International is the second competition in the annual ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating series. The other events take place in the United States (Skate America), China (Cup of China), France (Trophée Eric Bompard), Russia (Rostelecom Cup) and Japan (NHK Trophy). Skaters are awarded points based on their placements in the series' events. The top-six men and ladies and the top-six pair and ice dance teams qualify for the ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final to be held in Fukuoka, Japan from December 5-8, 2013.
