L match: Liukin, Lysacek lean on each other

DALLAS - Evan Lysacek and Nastia Liukin share an experience that has turned each into an emotional bulwark for the other’s Olympic comeback.

“When you go to the Olympic Games and win, no one understands what you are going through afterward except someone else who has done it,” Liukin said.  “I’m very excited for Evan, and it’s great to have his support and to have someone who knows exactly what I am going through.”

When Liukin, the 2008 Olympic gymnastics all-around champion, showed up in Vancouver two years later as Lysacek was winning the figure skating gold, the celebrity-driven press had them dating.

Liukin, who said she last spoke with Lysacek “about three days ago,” declined to define the nature of their relationship Monday at the U.S. Olympic Committee media summit.  “It’s my personal life,” she said.

Lysacek, 26, has not competed since the 2010 Olympics.  His comeback plan for last season ran afoul of a contractual dispute with U.S. Figure Skating, but he has been training intensively for more than a year with a shot at the 2014 Olympics in mind.

“He trains like a maniac all the time,” Liukin said.

Liukin, 22, seeking a spot at the 2012 Olympics, has been back to serious training for about six months.  Her last competition was the U.S. Championships in the summer of 2009.  She plans to return at the May 26 Secret U.S. Classic at the UIC Pavilion.

Since Beijing, Liukin has become prominent in one of Subway’s televised commercial campaigns, was a guest star on the short-lived TV show “Hellcats” and did a cameo on"Gossip Girl."After Vancouver, Lysacek amped up his image by finishing second on "Dancing With The Stars."

Going from that dazzle back to the gym and rink can be a shock to the system.

“Evan has been telling me to keep calm, which I am not very good at,” Liukin said.  “I’m always thinking about the future or next month instead of taking things one day at a time.

“So much of coming back is about having faith in yourself.  You can’t get wrapped up in the moment.”

她说没人能比和你有相同经历的人更懂你，所以她和Evan总能相互支持。

他们三天前刚刚通过电话，上赛季复出受阻并没有影响Evan，他训练一直很拼命。

柳金复训了一段时间，正积极准备争取参加伦敦奥运会。Evan给他的建议是保持冷静，这正是她做得不好的地方，因为她总喜欢想将来的事而不是脚踏实地一步一步来。

其他访问里她还透露不管是否入选国家队，她都会在明年一月去纽约大学读书，念体育管理。印象里雷队一直准备去纽约（哥大）上学的，不知道会不会因为复出的事要再推迟一下。

由于冬奥传过绯闻，媒体对两人的关系很感兴趣，柳金的回答是：“这是我的私事。”

是女友上岗证。冬奥爆绯闻时只是公主一厢情愿的，现在比较可靠的消息是双方父母都见了，两人退役后都会去纽约上学，后头的事就不用我说了吧，呵呵...... Evan喜欢低调，而且两个人目前都很忙，所以关系会继续捂着，等吧。

不参加GP是另有安排，现在不能说。全美不会再缺席了。
