Magical Zebra
Interviewer: Stéphane Lambiel, you just got back from Vancouver. And now you're here at Art on Ice in Zurich. Does the post-Olympic life start with a jet lag?
SL: Yes, it does. And that is good for me. I don't really have time to think about what happened in Vancouver. I'm here at Art on Ice now and I'm looking forward to it (ed. note: "viel Freude" = "much joy" PRESHHHH and grammatically questionable xD). I have no regrets regarding Vancouver. It was a beautiful adventure for me. Unfortunately I didn't achieve what I had planned to do, but everything else was lovely (ed: "hat gestimmt" .. please excuse my paraphrasing here :p). I only missed the medal.
Interviewer: The competition was two weeks ago. What has happened since?
SL: I have to say, the five days after the competition were very hard. It's like this.. I had to digest it. It took time for me to accept it. But now it's over and I have to move forward. I am very content with my shows, I have a lot of shows coming up until July all over the place - Eastern Europe, here in Switzerland, in America, Russia, Japan. So basically it's a good life (ed: preshhhhhhhhhh :D).
Interviewer: Can we look back at that competition some more, though? You made a comeback specifically for the Olympic Games, you wanted to experience it once more, you wanted to win a medal. That didn't work out (ed: way harsh. LMAO.). Was it worth it anyway?
SL: It was definitely worth it! I have to say, because I had this goal (ed: medalling, I think!), I took more care of my health and that gave me a lot strength for my future (ed: yeahhh, it doesn't make much sense in German either :p). I had to be healthy to achieve this goal and maybe without this goal I wouldn't have focused on my body so much and I wouldn't have been in as good a shape as I am now for all these shows I'm doing now. Now I'm strong, I'm healthy, I found a way to deal with my injury. I have to say, it's a good satisfaction for me (ed: he says the word 'satisfaction' in English, which is why the sentence doesn't make any sense, but I wanted to leave it in xD). Without Vancouver I wouldn't be here today.
Interviewer: The winner in Vancouver, surprising for many, was American Evan Lysacek. He didn't have have a very difficult program (ed: buuuuuuurn, mongoose xD). Apparently the judges want to see something different these days. Did you maybe have the wrong strategy?
SL: I believe the winner was the one who had the best performance that day. It's like this in any sport.. it's gotta be your time. One day might be your day and the next might not be. And I believe Evan (ed: he pronounces it in the CUTEST way possible. Like 'ehhh -wan' xD) seized his opportunity that day, he showed what he could do and he deserved it, he deserved the title. But there were many champions present in Vancouver who didn't win the gold medal.
Interviewer: One of them, Evgeni Plushenko, is gonna be here at Art on Ice as well. He is not of the opinion that the right person won (ed: LOOOOL. Platinum Plushy xD), he would have preferred to have won his second gold himself (ed: *duh*). Have you talked about that with him?
SL: We have not talked about this. I believe he has to accept this, as I have. He just has to accept it when the judges say that this or that person is better than me or better than him. I am happy that he is here in Zurich, I'm sure we'll have a good time together (ed: LMAOOOO). He has a lot of respect for me and I have a lot of respect for him. We will go on tour together in April (ed: *spazzzz*), I will be at a show in St Petersburg with him, for example and some more shows in Eastern Europe. It's gonna be great (ed: said with the most EPIC grin! :D)!
Interviewer: You said you are in great shape now, you have your injury under control. Why don't you put your Olympic shape to use and go to the World Championship in three weeks?
SL: I'm not going to the World Championship, because Vancouver was my goal. I focused all my energy on these Olympic Games and I think people will just have to understand that that was my goal and I'm gonna be doing other stuff now. Participating in the World Championship never entered my mind.
Interviewer: Is this gonna be the end of Stéphane Lambiel, the competitor?
SL: I really can't say. But... (ed: he breathes, pauses, goes within himself) .. I gotta be honest. At this point in time I doubt I will enter any competition ever again. It all lead up to Vancouver and that was my limit.
Interviewer: Let's go way ahead and say, Art on Ice 2025. Will Stéphane Lambiel still be a leading act then? (ed: WTAF? LOL)
SL: 25? I will be.. (interviewer provides: 40 years old).. 40! Probably not in 2025 then! But I'll definitely do this for a couple more years. Hopefully!
Interviewer: Thank you.
Sick Leave SL.... |
