The FODS S&Z did is the hardest of all death spirals, and I've only seen them do it. I don't really like their position but the difficulty is there. The next hardest would be the BODS, then BIDS, and finally the FIDS.
Moskvina's pairs have often been critisized for having bad death spirals, from M&D, to K&D, and yes, also B&S. I thought that maybe because I loved B&S too much, I was really biased and loved their death spiral. So glad to see many others like it as well. Elena takes a bit longer to get into the death spiral position, and the BODS isn't that great, but otherwise it's marvelous. Anton's pivot is also one of the best.
G&G pretty much spell perfection, and their DS is no exception. I love the way they do the FIDS. Katia tucks her free leg behind the other leg, whereas most ladies bring the foot in front. So this way, when she gets down into the death spiral, she doesn't bend at the waist. Instead, she maintains a beautiful line.
I also think O&S's death spiral where they change edges and directions is very cool.
I think a lot of times the man gets overlooked in this move. A lot of times people just care about the lady, how close her head is to the ice, how long she holds her move, how smooth her edges are, etc. IMHO, there ought to be much more emphasis on the man's pivot. That's why I think B&S and G&G are in a class of their own. Elena might not have the best positions, but their innovation and Anton's pivot more than makes up for that. |
