I also watched the first group of pairs, with Shen/Zhao, the Zhangs and Petrova/Tikhonov. They were all technically clean, and I was so glad to see Shen/Zhao live again (I think last time was in Dortmund). They're so impressive, the throws are WOW, and you can really see that they love skating and have fun on the ice. Zhao fell on the sbs spin (he-Zhang too just a couple of minutes later! LOL) and Shen just couldn't help laughing, just like when she messed up the entrance to a throw jump and they couldn't do it.

First time I saw Mao live, wow, this girl is really amazing! Seems like she could do 3-3 in her sleep, and she landed at least one fantastic 3A. I was very very impressed, but the LP music doesn't work for her. First time I saw Yu-Na Kim too, her jumps are totally effortless, she's very gracious, but I just can't connect to her. I hope she'll become more expressive as she gets more mature. So at this point, I still like Miki better. She's great and has become lovely to watch. I'd like her to win. Sarah was good, she landed her jumps without too much trouble, and her LP is really lovely. She tried a 3-3 (probably because she was seeing so many around her) but didn't land it. And sorry, but I can't say anything about Fumie and Julia, there was just too much to look at!

OK, now I'm definitely in love with Daisuke's skating. He could just go round the rink doing nothing (or his lovely step sequences), I'd still be totally impressed, but the thing is that he's in fantastic shape, landed all the jumps with such ease (quad in combo, 3A...), until he tried the flip, missed it... and again... and again... and one more time... until I realized it was a quad!! LOL Not sure he'll try it in competition, but it was still quite amazing.
I spent so much time watching Daisuke that I don't have much too say about the others, sorry...
Brian: wasn't totally on today, had a rough time with jumps (did land them eventually), but I guess it'll be better tomorrow. Johnny: tried the quad plenty of times, never landed it. 3A was fine though. Evan: was good, landed his jumps easily, lovely 3Lz-3T. Nobunari: it's the first time I saw him live, and he's really tiny! LOL His jumps are high and impressive (3A-3T-2L was just too easy) but his skating just doesn't do it for me. Last but not least, Alban: when I asked him, he said his injury is OK, but he didn't seem too convinced. I really hope it doesn't get worse, he had a really nasty fall on a 3A that probably didn't help. He did land all his jumps though, but I can't help worrying for him.
张丹险些丢了冰鞋:
Dan Zhang's skates were lost when the Chinese team arrived on Tuesday. The arrived at the same time from Helsinki as I arrived from Frankfurt, and while I was at customs with a cameraman who had trouble with the customs officer I saw the Chinese team standing at the luggage belt for ages and finally Hao Zhang came over and told me about the lost luggage. Fortunately, it arrived the next day as promised and she could go to the inofficial practice in the afternoon
