Buttle, the reigning men's world champ, was named the elite male amateur athlete of the year and also won the fans' choice award with more than 100,000 votes.
"When I found out I'd be in the country during this event, I made sure I would be here," Buttle said. "This is the city I represent, this is the city where I grew up skating, so I want to come back to see everyone.
"It's amazing. I had such a good season this year, and I'm glad I can come a share the world title with everyone. They own a piece of it because I represent the city."
Buttle was wowed by the number of votes he garnered.
"It's overwhelming," he said. "To think I got more than 100,000 votes, that's pretty cool. It makes me feel pretty good."
Life has never been better for Buttle.
"For 25, I'm extremely happy with where I am, and winning the worlds was one of my lifetime goals for skating," he said. "From here, it's just about improving. We're pretty close to the Olympics. It seems far being two years away, but in my sport it's not, so that's what I'm focusing on."
