- Project Brief
Design a book which documents the historical significance of one of the individuals provided on the following list, Time 100. It is important to focus on the accomplishments and contributions of the individual.
My Solution
The person I chose from Time's Top 100 of 2010 list was Yuna Kim of South Korea, and winner of the Gold Medal for Women's Figures Skating at the Winter 2010 Olympics. After researching her story, I decided to focus on her rivalry with fellow figure skater, Mao Asada from Japan. I pulled the red and blue colors from the flags of both Japan and South Korea, and the gold from the gold medal both skaters were competing for. Throughout the book, I used circular shapes to reflect the medal as well as the country flags. The pages are printed on textured paper and covers on textured card stock. The book is bound together with three grommets.

美国的一位儿童作家Christine Dzidrums 写了一本书
A U.S. children's book author has written a biography of Olympic figure skating champion Kim Yu-na. Christine Dzidrums announced on her website on Saturday that she completed the biography "Yuna Kim: Ice Queen."
"I always thought I disliked writing non-fiction, but I really grew to love the research and writing process of working on a biography," Dzidrums wrote on her website. "Ever since finishing the (Joannie) Rochette bio, I was anxious to try my hand at non-fiction again, so I chose another figure skater who really intrigued me… Olympic champion figure skater Yuna Kim."
She added, "I had such fun researching/writing this book. And by the end I’d become quite the uber Yuna Kim fan. What an amazing athlete."
Dzidrums pointed out that the new book is shorter than her biography of figure skater Rochette, the bronze medalist at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, but she believes "it's because it's better written. I've improved my writing… really tightened it up… cut to the chase, etc. I'm proud of the book."
