Act II
Work 'n Time - Todd E., Alexei, David, and John
Art of Noise
Yay - it's the broom number, LOL. Empty ice, with a prop - what looks like a time clock. Guys come out in the feared janitorial-type costumes - sniff - holding giant time cards, which they plop into the time clock. It says "Acme Clockworks" or something like that on the backs of their costumes. They pick up the brooms from the tunnel end. They push the brooms forward to our end, then skate backwards, stepping over the brooms as they skate. They do lots of different things with their brooms and look like they are having fun doing it. Alexei slides under the rest of the guys, they pick him up between them, Todd does a sit spin with his broom over his shoulders, Alexei does sliding around steps with his - hard to describe, but it looks cool - they trade brooms. Todd and David drop theirs, but it looks like it's part of the number, LOL. Alexei flips over the broom handles being held by David and John, Alexei and I think Todd sit on their brooms while they are being pushed, John slides his broom around him while the guys jump over it, then they "sweep" John to the side, then use their brooms as air guitars, Anton swings Alexei around while Alexei is holding on to the broom, they all end up in the middle holding up their brooms. Great number I loved in practice and has fulfilled its promise. And the guys look totally at ease with their brooms - good job!
Shall We Dance - Jenni and Todd
Joan Ryan
Stars off with voice overs from Todd and Jenni. It's almost like telling a story of how they got together. Todd is wearing red - Jenni is wearing a cream and silver trim dress - very pretty. Starts off with platter lift variations, throw double axel was very nice, leap of faith, Todd flips Jenni over while he's holding her in his arms - hard to describe, but cool - stag lift with flip dismount, lovely death spiral which turns into sort of a swing around lift at the end, another lift with Jenni's legs around Todd's neck while he swings her around, upright spiral pose lift then drops into Todd's arms. Very pretty, romantic program of the kind they have perfected.
Transition program with Elena, Kyoko, and Yuka. The girls lead Todd and Jenni out, then bring in Todd E.
When You Come Back to Me - Todd Eldredge
Garth Brooks
Wearing a purple costume, which the lighting almost made look dark blue instead, but I think we decided it was purple, LOL. Camel spin, flowing backwards connecting moves, triple toe? nice triple axel, triple sal, camel spin, knee slides, connecting moves with lots of flow and speed, Russian splits, deathdrop into sit spin, on knees, forward spiral, two Russian splits, triple toe, camel/sit/scratch spin to finish, again blindingly fast, with maybe a slight stumble out of it. I think this was the best received program of the night so far, and, of course, it was beautifully skated.
Scott starts to come out but a voice over makes him leave, LOL....
Timely Advice (Sunscreen) - Yuka, David, Todd S., and John
Baz Luhrmann
Very cool costumes - Todd S., John, and David are wearing tank tops or muscle shirts with I think bright colored stripes on top, white pants (hey, I was distracted by the arms - who knows what the colors were, LOL?) Yuka in a dress with the same design. Did I mention Iliked the costumes? Very cool ensemble program - the guys basically lift Yuka, slip Yuka over the tops of their heads, lift Yuka over their heads, all do double axels together, they do a death spiral where the guys hang onto each other and one of them hangs on to Yuka, LOL. I think I saw a throw double loop, too. Really imaginative program and another favorite of the ensemble programs.
Transition program.
Kalinka - Anton and Elena
traditional
Russian folk number from Anton and Elena in sort of sparkly red folk costumes. Didn't really care for the costumes, but Anton and Elena skated the program with spark. I think it will develop more, too, as they perform it. Anton flips Elena up, throw triple loop with a fall, backwards, sprightl |
