(05/20/2013) - The French Federation of Ice Sports announced Monday that ice dancers Nathalie Péchalat and Fabian Bourzat, the 2012 world bronze medalists, have left Detroit to train with Igor Shpilband in Novi, Mich.
The two-time European champions have trained in Detroit with a team of coaches headed by Pasquale Camerlengo and Anjelika Krylova since 2011. According to the statement from their federation, the team decided it needed a change "to give them an extra boost" heaidng into the Olympic year.
Last season, Péchalat and Bourzat won both of their Grand Prix events and took the bronze at the Grand Prix Final, but they ended their campaign on a sour note, placing a disappointing sixth at the 2013 World Figure Skating Championships.
Shpilband set up camp in Novi last year, and since then has taken on a number of top-level teams, including U.S. silver medalists Madison Chock and Evan Bates and Lithuanians Isabella Tobias and Deividas Stagniunas. |
