Patrol cars with hidden cameras to check up drivers in Sunny Beach and Nessebar
I'll Punish the Policemen Who Let Staviski Go
No pressure has been exerted on us in Staviski's case, says commissioner Pavlin Dimitrov
- Commissioner Dimitrov, what do the expertises on the scene of the car accident, in which Maxim Staviski was involved, show?
- A pretrial investigation has been launched. It's too early to draw conclusions on the case. We need time.
- Immediately after the car accident, Maxim admitted that he had consumed alcohol. Has it become clear what he had drunk?
- I haven't spoken with him in person and I don't know exactly what kind of alcohol he had consumed.
- Hours after the accident, controversial information about the alcohol test of the world champion circulated in the public space. An impression was created that there was an attempt for manipulation of the facts.
- Early on Monday, one of the information agencies released information that Staviski's blood test proved 1.20 per milles of alcohol. This was not police information. The breathalyzer has officially gauged 1.18 per milles and only half an hour after this the chemical analyses of the blood showed 1.10 per milles.
- Has anybody exerted pressure on you not to reveal information connected with the case?
- A thing like this is impossible to happen. The grave consequences of the accident wouldn't allow anyone, no matter how high in the police hierarchy he stands, to interfere. Both we and the regional prosecution abstained from any comments, because we had been waiting for the results of the blood tests, which were ready in the early afternoon Monday.
- Shortly before the incident Staviski was stopped by road policemen who did not check him up. Why didn't they sanction him for exceeding the speed limits?
- Maxim was driving close to another car, without keeping the safe distance. The patrol car stopped him and warned him to observe the provisions of the Road Traffic Act.
The policemen who stopped him said, that he had not violated the law. From information in the media I learn that there were witnesses who saw him offending the traffic rules. I'll be thankful to these witnesses if they confirm the information officially. And if it proves true, I'll punish the policemen who have lied to me. |
