Nicole/Derek - 53
Evan/Anna - 47
Erin/Maks - 44
Pamela/Damian - 43
Jake/Chelsie - 40
Niecy/Louis - 39
Shannon/Mark - 38
Aiden/Edyta - 34
Chad/Cheryl - 34
Kate/Tony - 31
Buzz/Ashly - 26

A Review of 'Dancing with the Stars': Evan Lysacek Jived like a Professional Dancer '50s Style
Maxine Nelson
Evan Lysacek Looked Very Much like a Pro Connecting with Anna & the Audience yet He Needs to Point His Toes More
Last Monday night, on March 22, Dancing with the Stars aired its most-watched premiere ever. The bar has been set now in this second week of competition Monday night. Some of my favorite dances, the Jive and Foxtrot, were the choices for the celebrities and their professional dancer partners. My favorite celebrity of this season is none other than Evan Lysacek, the Olympic figure skating champion. I fondly remember watching him during the recent Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Canada as he skated on to victory beating out his rival Evgeni Plushenko of Russia. He hasn't disappointed me thus far with his performances on this popular reality TV competition show. Evan and his dance partner, Anna Trebunskaya, took on the Jive, which is categorized as one of the five international Latin dances. It is the only Latin dance that originated in the United States. You might say it is a combination of the jitterbug and swing dance variations.
As the celebrities were introduced at the beginning of the show descending down a staircase, as they always do for every show, Evan and Anna were dressed in 50's style costumes, which was apparent they were going to do the jive. I wasn't sure how Evan would be able to handle any of the Latin dances. He obviously excelled last week with the ballroom dance, the Viennese Waltz. Evan was featured near the beginning of the show in the first hour of Dancing with the Stars. The introduction films on the stars I always enjoy watching, because you see them rehearsing as well as some of them traveling to certain events, especially the athletes. Evan and Anna traveled to his hometown of Naperville, Illinois for his Olympic Gold Medal celebration. It was a lot of fun to see the crowds going wild with excitement and pride. I loved how he asked for everyone to take out their phones and program his call-in and text numbers to vote for him on Dancing with the Stars. He and Anna were shown rehearsing their dance routine. They seem to get along perfectly. Evan stated they are connecting with each other and the audience now.
When Evan and his Russian dance partner, Anna Trebunskaya, took to the dance floor it was as if watching two professional Latin dancers. The speed within their dance steps was tremendous considering it was a celebrity who is not even a dancer. Normally when I watch the celebrities dance I just sit there and observe. However, I was sitting straight up bopping along to the song by Avril Lavigne, "The Best Damn Thing." Their performance was sharp, clean, synchronized, and entertaining. They looked so cute dressed up as a greaser ('50's slang for a bad boy type) with his girl. It was apparent they had a lot of fun with their routine. Afterward, the judges were extremely pleased overall and stated Evan connected more with Anna and the audience. I loved when Bruno said "You're definitely 'Grease Lightening' tonight." The only downside was that he needs to point his toes, which was the second time this has been brought to Evan's attention by the judges. During the post interview Brooke Burke tried to make a joke that literally fell like a lead balloon. Brooke may have won Dancing with the Stars in whatever season, but she is atrocious as the new co-host. She'll ask them a question and won't even let the celebrity or pro dancer finish the answer. I realize she is pressed for time, but Brook handles it very awkwardly. At any rate, Evan received a total of 24 points from the judges making his combined total a 47 out of 60 from the two dance routines. .
Overall, Evan Lysacek still remains in second place with Erin Andrews and Pamela Anderson not too far behind in third and fourth place. There is one celebrity contestant who shall remain nameless I feel is getting extremely cocky and too overconfident. She may have high praises and scores of 10 from some of the judges, but that doesn't mean you have the competition sewn up Miss PCD. Just ask Sabrina Bryan from Season 5 of Dancing with the Stars. I'm sure you'll get an earful from Sabrina herself. It pleases me to no end Evan and Anna have had great rehearsal sessions. However, Monday night there were too many celebrities arguing with their pro dancers in the film footage. Yes, I have seen many past seasons where occasionally a partnership may have disagreements, yet this was over the top. How convenient to use "that was edited" excuse. How many times have reality stars said that? Way too many, I might add. At any rate, the first results show Tuesday night will be fascinating, because anything can happen. It will be great to see Haitian dancers since I've been to Haiti and seen them perform. I'm also looking forward to seeing the Beach Boys sing "California Girls", "Kokomo", and "Fun, Fun, Fun."

Evan部分:
Evan Lysacek & Anna Trebunskaya
Dance/Song: Jive/"The Best Damn Thing" a la Avril Lavigne
Evan's actually really good at the jive. He's totally giving me Broadway "Grease" -- he's into the character but as animated as he's supposed to be. He performed the heck out of the routine and kept the energy up. The technique was very good and all the jumps, spins, and special movement were done pretty much perfectly. I'm very impressed, especially considering it's only the second week and he was dancing in Chuck Taylors, which offer zero support.
Judges: Carrie Ann was very happy with the performance, complimenting his energy, control, and connection with the audience and Anna. Len agrees with Carrie Ann, reiterating that for someone so tall he did very well but wants him to get his feet sharper. Bruno said the partner work was spot on and tells him to point his feet.
Score: 24 (8-8-8) - Hmm ... if Nicole got two nines last week, surely Evan deserved the same this week.

Evan Lysacek & Anna Trebunskaya (24/47):
With the couple’s big critique being their lack of chemistry, it seems that they took it to heart and were a totally different couple in week two. Evan is a great dancer, there’s no doubt about that, especially because he hits such great lines with his ape-like arms and long legs, but I was kind of worried knowing that he would be dancing a jive, which is more of a short-man’s dance (and why I look horrible attempting it… ok, maybe that’s not the only reason why)(昨天最挑剔的老男人评委也说Jive和Lindy Hop那样的舞适合矮个dancer,高个子跳很难,但Evan克服了困难,well done). But Evan pulled it off and then some, with one of the more fun-to-watch jives in recent memory. The Olympian looks primed for the Mirror Ball trophy already, so long as he gives his stiffest competitor, Nicole Scherzinger, “the Harding.” Unfortunately, Evan was paired with Anna, and the hideous dress that she was wearing, landing Anna her first Worst Dressed Award of the season.

Evan Lysacek and Anna Trebunskaya dance Jive. That was terrific! It was high energy and fast. He really performed throughout the entire piece. He's really tall, but he has so much control over his frame. He's still having trouble pointing his toes, but I suspect with his work ethic that he'll ultimately be able to overcome that. What I like about him is his ability to make what he's doing look effortless. He is able to connect one step to the next to the next without short changing the prior move. That probably comes from his training as a skater. He understands that it's not about going from trick to trick. One thing I appreciate about Evan's skating is that he pays attention to the choreography between his jumps. And that has translated to his dancing. Well done! Judges say 8's across for a total of 24. Yup yup! Maybe there could have been a 9 in there.

Evan Lysacek is in pain.
"I wasn't hurting until this morning," Dancing With the Stars' latest Olympic gold-medalist contestant just told me. "My calves are a little sore and my feet, too. Even my ankles hurt. I'm so used to them being supported by the skates, but now they hurt. I'm resting now, but we have rehearsal later today because of my schedule—but then more rest."
不管怎么说,还是希望小雷子能越战越勇,后来居上,再当一次come back kid! 当然,大前提是,身体第一! |
