Meryl Davis
Groves High School
Meryl Davis is an ice dancer who began skating at the age of 5. Her mother wanted her to be able to skate on Walnut Lake, near their home.
Meryl and her ice dancing partner rank in about the top 30 in the world in their sport. They travel the world, competing on skates. Competing in the 2010 Olympics is a goal Meryl hopes to achieve.
This scholar athlete practices her ice dancing 6 days a week, often for 2 hours on the ice. She also does ballroom dance and ballet.
Meryl Davis will graduate high school this year (2005) as an honor society member with a high GPA.
Next year (2006), Meryl will take a year off of school before heading to the University of Michigan where she's considering studies in anthropology. Her skating travels have left her fascinated by other cultures.
